Resonance Innovations now offering quick-turn guarantees for Siemens, Philips, and Hitachi MRI coil repairs

Resonance Innovations has raised the bar again on MRI repair and refurbishment.  The company was first to offer fixed pricing for any vendor’s coil, later adding guaranteed 24 or 48-hour turn-around times for all GE compatible MRI coils.  For an additional fee, customers could get their MRI coils repaired and returned within the guaranteed time-frame or the fee was dropped.  Now this service is expanded to include coils made by Siemens, Philips (including their new 3T Achieva coils), and Hitachi, and coils made for those companies by their OEM contracted coil companies.  RI carries an extensive list of parts to compliment a growing team of design engineers whose talents are tapped to diagnose and repair the most complex MRI coils.

Resonance Innovations' LLC Quality System

In order to conform to the standards for medical device safety compliance, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-33, and UL544, a number of processes and procedures must be followed while designing, manufacturing or repairing medical devices. These are outlined in the FDA’s Good Manufacturing Procedures and are independently certified by ISO 13485 auditing agencies. Simply put, companies that lack the ISO 13485 certification have not made the requisite investment in quality processes, infrastructural procedures, training or passed the independent audit that confirms the implementation of these investments.

Devices must be repaired with equivalent or better structural integrity than the original, the materials must be approved for patient contact, they must not induce MR imaging artifact via significant signal contribution, and of course, the requisite facility, workmanship, product tracking processes and knowledge are required to complete and record the task. Finally, after the mechanical repair and aesthetic work, the product must be tested to ensure that it meets the original manufacturer’s electronic specifications.

We utilize a special bonding material that meets all of the above standards, and we have perfected processes for repairing such housings as well as for electronic repair, tuning, testing and validation that are routine for our engineering and repair lab.

We charge a fixed price for repairs and refurbishments based upon coil model number and/or system interface. Others may bid less, but it is doubtful that they have the requisite certifications to both certify and warrant the coil upon completion of the repair. The certification is a liability and discount providers tend to avoid this liability. So, when you receive this coil after our repair, it will be warranted as equivalent to a new coil, and you and your customer can rest assured that it will be safe, efficacious, and lasting, and that Resonance Innovations will stand behind any requisite warranty or non-warranty repairs during the life of the product.
